When to visit
Spring in Georgia
The spring months are when the weather starts to be better, but late March and April can still be a bit cool.
When the weather really starts to be better enough to go to all parts of the country is from May until September.
Tbilisi’s climate is cold in winter and hot in summer, with the spring and autumn months being milder. A continental climate.
Summer in Georgia
Summer in Georgia is a good time to go to the western area, i.e. the Black Sea coast, and again, the town of Batumi.
Also temperatures are milder in the high mountainous areas, without being hot. So if places like Mtskheta, Uplistsikhe, Davit Gareja or Tbilisi can be a bit warmer, the mountainous areas of Svaneti and Kazbegi are perfect for hiking or trekking in the area.
Autumn in Georgia
It is perhaps next to spring the best time of the year to travel to Georgia. Especially the months of September and October, since later the temperatures begin to drop considerably.
This time of the year allows you to travel throughout the country without having to worry about the state of the roads in the most mountainous areas. Although at this time of the year, there starts to be more precipitations of water, without being too heavy.
Winter in Georgia
The months of November to March are the coldest months as well as rainy, so going during this time of the year will not let you enjoy places like Kazbegi. Mount Kazbegi is situated at an altitude of over five thousand meters, yes you heard right. And the town of Stepantsminda, where you have to reach is over a thousand meters high, so the winter months, which are quite cold, are not the best to enjoy a visit to perhaps the most photographed place in the country, the Church of Gergeti.

Top sights
Tbilisi Old Town
Old quarter of Tbilisi with the Narikala Fort in the background Walking through the little streets of the old quarter of Tbilisi among the typical architecture of the 19th century is the reason why we liked the city so much. It's a trip back in time that takes you back several decades, when two-story houses with balconies that look like they are about to crumble occupied most of Georgia's capital.
Fort Narikala and Kartlis Deda Monument
The climb is steep and tiring, but when you get to Fort Narikala you will be rewarded. There is not much left of the fort itself, but it is the spectacular view of the city.
Abanotubani Quarter
In the area at the foot of the hill up to Narikala Fort you will see several brick buildings with rounded roofs. These are all hamams (thermal baths), a historical institution of Tbilisi. Even if you don't go to one, the Abanotubani neighborhood is beautiful to walk around.
Banks of the Kura River
The banks of the Kura River, especially between the Peace Bridge and the Metekhi Bridge, is the perfect place to walk at night as it is loaded with bars, restaurants and cafes.
